Geocache Description:

Oh, Great Spirit,
whose voice I hear in the winds,
and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me,
I am small and weak
I need your strength and wisdom

I come before you, one of your many children.
I am weak and small.
I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes
ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made
and my ears start to hear your voice.
Make me wise, so I may understand
the things you have taught my people
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden
in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength, not to be superior to my brother,
but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.
Make me ever ready to come to you
with clean hands and straight eyes,
so whenever life fades, like the fading sunset,
my spirit will come to you
without shame.

- prayer composed by Lakota Chief Yellow Lark - 1887

I happened upon this beautiful cemetery while driving home one day. Since then I have spent hours exploring there. It is my desire to share the beauty and quietude with all of you by placing this cache.

This is not a cache to be done in a rush. Save it for when you have time to wander around in a relaxed mannner.

TO LOG THIS CACHE:

  • visit the 8 given locations
  • find the rocks on the edge of the lawn containing the final cache
  • if possible, write your log in the spirit of the poem on this cache page. Include reactions, thoughts, and/or discoveries about life. If you're tempted to write about other things, reread the poem above.

If you have nothing to say, a simple "thank-you" will suffice.

The final coordinates are N 46° 5A.BCD - 0.009 W 122° 3E.FGH - 0.015. They are slightly changed from the original hide and it is easier this way rather than rewriting the entire cache description

There are 8 spots that seemed special to me and I will share those with you. Coordinates are given for each of them with a bit of a commentary.
