What is that anyway? Traditional Cache

Amazing views...interesting spot.
Many people have looked to the cache location on the ridge and asked their driving companions..."what is that up there on that mountain?". I have wanted to climb up here since I moved to Alaska...and it has taken me years to get the motivation. This is an amazing place...and it made for one of the most memorable and amazing hikes of the 2007 Summer. We had an airplane fly about 100 yards away waving its wings...watched the bore tide roll in...saw several goats...and enjoyed the sun.
You may log the Bore Tide Earth Cache from this point...it is amazing to watch it roll in if you time the tides right. Tundra Tim will probably get to watch it twice if Kate doesn't pull him up the mountain.
Don't be scared...this isn't a typical MTboy hide. I have been influenced by the tenderness of my sweet compassionate friend to the south--Ridgeseeker...and dropped a cache that is well within reach of any weekend warrior. I got sucked in and sat here nearly 2 hours enjoying views. Access is up Konikson Road near the Bird Creek Gas Station. It is near a landmark visible from the highway. If you bring your spotting scope you can also watch the mountain goats across the inlet on hope point.
This is one place in the Chugach that you can see Mountain Goats. This is an opportunity to become an informed citizen and learn the difference between Goats and Sheep. Good luck. Bonus points for posting pictures of goats. Demerits for posting a picture of a sheep and calling it a goat.
For those of you who have made the trek~this hike is similar to climbing bird ridge...with better views...and goats.
