Geocache Description:

A short, 15 minute multi-cache up a steep climb with steps behind The Bedlam Furnaces.

Bedlam Furnaces
Bedlam Furnaces

Free parking can be found at N52°37.622, W002°28.588, The Bedlam Furnaces in Ironbridge. These are the remains of the blast furnaces built in 1757 by the Madeley Wood Furnace Company to smelt iron from the local ore. These furnaces were among the first to be built in this country specifically to use coke as fuel rather than charcoal, and therefore represent an important development in iron-making technology.

At the above coordinates you will find an information sign to gather the numbers required for the cache location.

A fragment of railway was discovered close to the works in ABCD?

Furnace II was probably built in the EFGHs?

You can now follow the path around the back of the furnaces up to the cache at
N52°37.DCD,

W002°28.(B-D+G)(D-E)(D-G)

The GPS signal was a bit jumpy, so we have uploaded a spoiler picture. You are looking for a 0.5 litre tupperware box which we won in a quiz at 'The Hides of March' cache event meeting.
