On the Centennial Trail. The nearest parking is the Machias trailhead.
I think this will be a fun cache since it involves using a compass. You will need to bring your own compass. The compass originally placed was stolen and they are pricey, so I don't want to lose another. The picnic table is at the above posted coordinates- its not the final cache coordinates.
From the picnic table, dial in bearing 354 degrees and walk about 80 feet in a straight line (walking in a straight line will mean walking through some tall grass in spring/summer but look ahead to where you should be if walking in a straight line so you don't have to walk through the grass. You can walk off to the right side to get to this 'waypoint') , STOP walking after about 80 feet (hint- you will be walking to a 'split natural object. Stop in front of it) and dial in a bearing of 290 degrees and walk about 45 feet- The cache is there.
I would like to keep this a GEOCACHING THEME CACHE. Please place only small items related to geocaching. Along with a mini log and pencil. The container is a small decon container that measure 4 by 2 inches. Please close lid tightly and please return the compass from where you found it.
Tips to use a compass are (most of them operate this way)- dial in the bearings of 354/290, then turn your body so the magnetic red arrow is between the 2 oval dots, then walked in the direction of the arrow lines on the base of the compass.
