The Balloch Traditional Cache

Good hike to the top of the Balloch Hill.
The Balloch Hill rises to 366m (1200 feet), 2½ miles (4 km) east of Keith. The hill is surrounded by Balloch Wood which covers about 2,500 acres and has a network of forest roads so a variety of routes to the cache are possible.
The one we use starts at the Herricks car-park, N57 31.875 W2 54.323. Starting from the car park follow the path marked by a green post with a blue band around the top. This path is quite a direct route to the top. The path is steep in places and can be muddy, so decent footwear is a must. Once you clear the woods follow the path to the concrete trig-point, then follow your GPS to the cache.
On the way to the top you will get some stunning views over Keith, Newmill and the surrounding area.
Many thanks to the Forestry Commission for giving us permission to place this cache.
