Geocache Description:

Nice walk along the Ingleby Barwick side of the River Leven however it is steep at either end of the walk hence the terrain rating.

Small plastic box inside a bag containing FTF prize, log book, pencil, keyrings, ball etc. GPS accuracy wasnt bad when we planted the cache despite the cover but the clue tells you exactly where it is.

As Ingleby Barwick was a cache free zone we decided to change that and using its other local name of Ingleby Toytown as an inspiration we have loosely themed the names.

Tales of the Riverbank was a children's series featured real animals and related the adventures of two friends; Hammy (a hamster) and Roderick (a white mouse).

Both animals lived along a riverbank and shared adventures with their neighbours - a guinea pig, a raccoon, a squirrel, a chipmunk, a frog, a toad, and various weasels and skunks.

The stars of the show, narrated by Jonny Morris, were real animals, who were shown moving around in miniature boats, cars, balloons and airplanes etc. The fifteen minute episodes were filmed at double the normal speed to allow the camera to slow down the movements of the animals.

The riverside walk can be done as a circular walk of about an hours length accessible from Challacombe Crescent or Crosswell Park, down to the river, along the riverside, (bagging the cache), back up and then linked by Roundhill Avenue and Sober Hall Avenue (or vice versa).

The quickest route to the cache is from the Crosswell park end, where you walk along a tarmac path between two posts with circular tops, through a gate and down a steep hill. Crosswell Park is a residential area so any parking should be done in an appropiate manner.

The way down at either end is quite steep and there is another part with steep steps later on.

The walk takes you down near the river Leven, dodging the butterfiles, past the sheep gazing in the fields etc.

Along side the path, mainly in the fenced off areas, there is some Giant Hogweed which contains sap in its stem/leaves which you should avoid contact with as it can affect the skin, so I would keep dogs on a lead etc.

The Challacombe Crescent end is not far from Ingleby Toytown 2 : Windy Miller so if you are feeling energetic you could park at Toytown 2's parking spot do toytown 1 & 2 and then this one!.

Enjoy the walk :-)
