Heritage Farm Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ninja Reviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Cache is located near a horse farm along the bike trail in the Sea Pines Plantation (gate fee $5). The cache is a camouflaged micro containing a log. Please bring a pen.

There is a small parking area across the street from the cache on Greenwood Drive located at COORDS 32 08.596N 080 47.353W. Take a moment from geocaching to check out the old-time rum-making apparatus near the windmill. The sugar cane press you see was used to extract the juice from the ripe sugar cane using horse power to turn the rollers. The juice was then placed in the big iron cauldron in the brick stove you see. The juice was heated up to boil off the water. The sugar would then crystallize. The remaining syrup--molasses--was used for making rum, cooking, and feeding the farm animals.
