Geocache Description:

This has been updated. If missing please let us know and will restore . Back in the day, all roads led to "the Mouth of Dorton". Before US 23, here at the Mouth of Dorton was a major intersection where one could go to Jenkins on to Virginia, Virgie on to Pikeville, or Over Dorton Mountain into Caney.

Growing up the saying, "Meet me at the Mouth of Dorton" meant many things. This small town "HOTSpot" Bridge was a gathering place for cruising, hanging out, fishing, dating, and even a good fight. "Hey You... meet me at the Mouth of Dorton", one did not know whether to get a fishing pole, boxing gloves, or spray extra cologne...alot of history and tall tales can be spoken about this place.... EXTRA Facts: '77 Flood - the water was over top of the bridge EXTRA Wish - I wish I had a penny for every fish caught off of this bridge - Bring your pole it is amazing how just about every cast produces. The difficulty is due to not only the hide but some possible powerlines. Check out the Geological gaging station Stamp.
