Geocache Description:

This is a fun and interesting walk from the Old Town Square in Corte Madera...if you so choose.

You Made It! This is the top of Hill Path and if you walked all the way from Corte Madera’s Town Square, to the highest point along Blithedale Ridge at 1030’, you have really accomplished something here.

The day I made this hide was also the first time I had been up here. My hike up was long overdue as I have worked in the shadow of Christmas Tree Hill and thought about climbing up here for 12 years now. Yeees, I know I can be a bit of a procrastinator from time to time!

As you walk up along the path to the cache, you can look down to the southwest and catch a glimpse of the Mill Valley Golf Course and upper reaches of Blithedale Canyon in Mill Valley. Looking to the northeast, you can see the Twin Cities, North Bay and beyond. You will have almost a complete panoramic view of the Bay Area. Once you’re here, you can actually walk north along the path until it intersects with fire roads and trails that can take you up the east face Mt. Tamalpais to its peak. There was even a bench I found between the Blithedale Ridge Trailhead and the cache site where you can sit and relax awhile.

The intended purpose of this cache was to have you hike from the base of Christmas Tree Hill to the very top and to enjoy the views and nature while you’re at it. However, I would be remiss not to tell you how surprised I was to find a small parking area near the trailhead to this cache (parking coordinates: 37 55.313N, 122 32.335W). If you are physically able, I highly recommend making the full hike up to Blithesdale Summit. Based on this, I have rated the terrain at a difficulty 3.5. If for some reason you choose to drive up, the terrain rating drops down to a 2(max!).

Just for the record, when you log your find, please note whether you are a hiker or a driver!

It was a bit foggy up here when I came so I didn’t get many photographs. So do us a favor if you would and take some pictures and post them in your log.
