Geocache Description:

You can park within a few feet of the cache. The terrain is flat and easy, but maybe a little overgrown. Available anytime.

My dad has always loved to cruise the back roads thru the little towns in Kansas. He brought me here shortly after this sign was put up and we've been back several times over the years to see what else has happened in this booming metropolis. While it hasn't been that busy, it's still nice to see another sign put up every few years.

Carlton has quite a little bit of history for it's size. The first postal station was established in 1872, but it wasn't platted until 1886 when the railroad came through.
In it's day, Carlton had several businesses including...
A livery stable, hotel, blacksmith shop, cream station, cheese factory, elevator, lumberyard, hardware and furniture store, bank, two restaurants, barber shop, telephone exchange, newspaper, several general merchandise stores & grocery stores. Several dentists and doctors practiced here also.

The cache is in a regular OD ammo can with a large cache sticker on the side. It includes the normal swag and two TB's.
I didn't notice any poison ivy, snakes, or ticks while I was there, but it wouldn't hurt to keep your eyes open!
Enjoy!
