Geocache Description:

Bringing you here to learn some history of early Tallahassee. The park is the site of Fort Houstoun (Houston), an earthern redoubt constructed to defend Tallahassee from attack during the winter of 1864-1865. The earthworks are in very good condition and are about all that remains of the series of forts built by the Confederates to protect Tallahassee. Troops were stationed here during the Battle of Natural Bridge (March 6, 1864), in case Union troops broke through and moved on the capital city.

Please make sure cache is hidden well when you're done.

PLEASE NOTE: Parks are open from sunrise to sunset
