This cache is a tribute to my Dad (Carey), a WWII Vet and truck driver born in Liberty, MS, who loved adventure and was a different type of fisherman - a hand-grabber. At our house, the swing set wasn’t just used for swinging, it was used to hang the giant 100-pound fish so they could be skinned. Kids looked on wide-eyed as the big fish were dragged ashore. Hand-grabbers catch different species of catfish and routinely get up to 60- to 70-pound fish. Now, that’s a handful! Catfish is a big deal in the South. Fried catfish is about as Southern and as much Mississippi as you can get. These days, finding a fresh, hot catfish plate is easy. If your stomach is rumbling, you don't have to look far. Hmmmn, you should be smelling some good southern cooking around lunchtime at this site, but if you want catfish it is served at Rowdy's about a half mile south of here.
