A short walk (0.8 mile) with stunning views and deceit!
Find the two nanos to find the micro to find the cache.
Contour maps, I love'em. Use the two contour maps to find where the nanos are placed. Unlike 'A Proper Little Stinker' neither contour map lines up neatly n/s or e/w. Also there is only ONE contour map per nano.
Use printouts of the contour maps to match up against the contour lines on your map- on both contour maps the X marks the spot where the nano lies so long as all contours match the contour maps! DO NOT be alarmed that the second contour map look like the north face of The Eiger! This is a result of not using matching scales for both axes (and I have had to crop the top of it owing to lack of space)- none of this will affect finding on the map; if you know what you're doing and have the right size contour map laid on top of the right map you should find it eventually, it's mainly a matter of luck. THINK how to read the contour maps!!
The co-ordinates at the top of the page are NOT one of the nano co-ordinates,they are purely there as a reference point. The nanos are within a radius of 3 miles from the co-ordinates given, use the contour maps with the relevant Ordnance Survey Explorer Map to tie down the nanos. One nano contains the northings for the micro and the other holds the westings.
MOST IMPORTANT, ensure that the length of the Y axis corresponds to EXACTLY 2 miles on the map you are using (when printing off the contour maps), the measurement is 128mm for 2 miles on the map I have been using.
I have decided not to tell you which contour map is which. I have also deliberately not labelled the X axis save in increments of 5 metres (as the contours are in 5 metre intervals)- but as a gesture of good will I shall tell you that the lowest value on the X axis is NOT zero on either contour map.
On the subject of footpaths it is very important to say that nanos, micro and cache are all either on a footpath or very close to one- but having said that there are parts of the trail that, though marked as a footpath on the map, are impossible to pick out on the ground so use common sense.
Because I am only a trainee evil genius I will tell you that I think of nano one as 'sixways' and nano two as 'triangle'- I'm way too soft!
I shall be keeping a close eye on this cache and will be releasing further information only as I think is warranted- but feel free to email me with questions etc.
