The Geocache is a short multi stage cache that takes you to German Mills Park and nearby Lundy Park across the road
Welcome to my first cache. This is a two stage multicache, which is fairly straight forward. The coordinates provided are for stage one of the cache. This is a film cannister wrapped in Camo tape that contains the coordinates for the second stage and final spot where the main cache is physically located. Stage one is located in German Mills park and is not too far off the main trail that runs alongside the creek of the park.
The cannister is hanging from a branch of a small tree about 4 feet off the ground located beside several fallen larger trees. This is only a few paces off the trail at the base of the hill, so if it feels like you are climbing too much, you probably are. Entry point for this section is across from a small clearing with some large rocks overlooking the creek. Your GPS should be letting you know that you are only a small distance from the coordinates at this point.
There can be some muggle activity around the area of stage one, so do use some discretion, especially if it is the weekend. The stage one cache will be hidden on the base of the hill side of the trail. You only need to take a few steps up the incline. This can be slippery during wet or Winter conditions, so wear appropriate footwear and use caution when searching. If you have time, its worthwhile to take a walk further down German Mills Park to enjoy rest of the area before heading off to stage two, its a nice pleasant walk and only takes about 10-15 minutes to walk the main path each way.
Once you have found stage one and are on your way to stage two, this is located across John Street in Lundy Park(much smaller park hidden amongst a townhouse complex). Stick to the trails and you should be ok with this one. You will see a couple of kids playsets and the Lundy Park nameplate at the proper entrance to the park. This small park is very lightly travelled, so there will be much less, if any muggle activity. The cache is a quart sized plastic screw top container wrapped in Camo tape. As the area is lightly travelled, there is plenty of waist high grass and some thorny vegetation around so pants are higly recommended during the spring and summer season. The final cache should be readily found, but make sure to replace any items used to camoflauge the cannister after you are done. The second stage has a pond that you walk by, do not go on this during the Winter as it is a drainage pond and rarely freezes over that one can walk on it. There is some slight and very short elevation on the second stage(less than the first). This could prove slippery in Winter conditions. The cache contains a log book, pencil and sharpener, along with some small toys and coins. Feel free to trade up or even, or add your travel bug or geocoin to the cache for future visitors.
To make things interesting, I have added a $10 Starbucks gift certificate as a reward for the First To Find for this cache. Please ensure the cache is replaced in its original location and hidden in the same manner as you found it. I found the GPS signals to be good in both areas and checked the coordinates from several directions, so as long as your GPS reception is good, you should be very close when you finally find your way to the two spots! Parking can be found at the townhouse complex across the street from German Mills Park and will allow you quick access to your vehicle once you have completed stage 2.
