This is my second cache and it's located on the 7th highest peak of Puerto Rico, at 3,950 ft. (1,204 m.) above sea level. Cerro Guilarte (Guilarte's Peak) as it is called, is part of the Guilarte Forest, a natural reserve located between the municipalities of Adjuntas, Guayanilla, Peñuelas and Yauco.
In order to get there you can take Highway #22 from San Juan to Arecibo, then take road #10 to Utuado. Take a left to road #123 (sometimes you can see this road labeled as road #10, don't worry, you're on the right track). Take a right on road #135, follow it until you reach the intersection with road #131. Follow road #131 until you reach N 18º08.768', W 66º46.068', at this intersection follow road #131 (right) and park your car wherever you can.
If you're near the southern part of the island, take Highway #52, then take road #10 to Adjuntas. At the end of this road (temporarily dead end), make a left and then immediately a right to road #123. Take road #123 North and take the next left (Lares, Castañer, Yauco), this is road #135, from this point follow the directions above.
The hiking begins at N 18º08.718', W 66º46.076', Elevation: 3,235ft. (986 m.). Your total ascent will be 715 ft. (218 m.).
You're looking for a small lock n' lock container full of "goodies" and a logbook with a mechanical pencil.
Enjoy the hike, enjoy the hunt and most of all enjoy the beautiful view up there.
