Geocache Description:

Yes, it's another cemetery cache!
Congratulations to Pointme2 for the FTF and FourVs who would have had it if not for our mistake!

We have changed the location of Stage 1 by about 20' because the original tree was cut down. Just go to the first tree in the row.
Coordinates listed are correct

This multi-cache will take you to the Benton Cemetery which was established in 1888. It is quite large for the area and still being used so please respect the area if there happens to be a service at the time you are there. We spoke quite awhile with one of the locals, Bob Hess, a groundskeeper there for many years, who gave us the ok to place the cache. He pointed out the beautiful new sign placed by the Benton Cemetery Association just this year, at the entrance.

Several interesting tidbits about the cemetery: As you arrive you will notice the old section first and that most of the gravestones are slightly at an angle and not in straight lines. Back in those days, it was believed you should be buried facing East. Why?

Buried near the quaint little building farther up the road is Benton's own Frank Laubach who was a world famous missionary. He came up with the innovative system (for the time) of "Each One Teach One". His stone is to the left of the building. The building used to be a chapel but now just holds equipmnt.

If you drive up around to the very top of the cemetery, you will see a very interesting sight. It is a BIG "casket" with a strange device on top. This is where Thomas McHenry, an inventor is buried (hopefully underground!) Apparently there was another big ball connected to the device but someone stole it. A little farther along this way there is a beautiful bench dedicated to the Kline family who donated that section of land for cemetery use. Take a moment to sit and view the entire cemetery.

Now to the cache. Listed coordinates are for step one, hopefully well hidden, with the coords to the final cache location. May be room for a TB and definetely a coin or two. I didn't see any poison ivy in the area and it's best retrieved from the back side instead of roadside. There are occasional muggles because there are houses up behind the cemetery so a camera would be a good decoy. This is our first multi-cache so feedback would be appreciated. Enjoy!

Thanks to David Bowie for the song! (1980)
