This two-stage multi-cache is located near the Lugoff access area below the Lake Wateree dam (approach from the Lugoff-Ridgeway side of the lake). It replaces the original cache that was hidden near here.
This Duke-SCDNR sponsored lake access point is very popular with boaters, and anglers who often fish all along the banks. Turn right on the gravel road at the end of Wateree Dam Rd and proceed to the parking area located past the boat ramp. Follow the paved path to the fishing/observation area just below the dam. Bring your camera for the great views and natural beauty that exists here. Enjoy the views as you go along but don’t make too much noise; someone might be fishing nearby.
There’s almost always someone fishing from the search area for Stage one but you should be able to reach it without much problem, even if muggle eyes are upon you. Stage two will be about a third of a mile away, on the road leading you back out of the access area.
At the observation area find the blank sign on the fence and Stage one is black on red. The information here contains your relative position to Stage two.
Sum check for Stage one info: Adding the two numbers, you find after the decimals, together will equal 273.
Adjust the listed coordinates accordingly. The second stage is a medium sized plastic jar that contains a log book, a pen and trade items. The ground is mostly level, although damp in some areas after a rain. Some briars and small pines are to found along the way. Have fun and enjoy the View!
