Geocache Description:

This geocache is located in a cemetery along 11 Mile Rd. The cemetery is quite small and often goes unnoticed. There is a bit of a steep incline up the ditch so go around it. The entrance is on the east side. Park along the road.

This cemetery was a family cemetery of some early settlers of South Lyon. It is also known as Rose cemetery. Most of the tombstones are not readable, but the names that appear are Bullard, Rose, and Sherman. A few date from the 1700s. This is one of four cemeteries owned by Lyon Township. It is an inactive cemetery as people are no longer interred there. It looks as though the last burial was in 1926.

Nothing needs to be disturbed to reach this geocache.

The "SQ" in the geocache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project by the Northwest Ohio Geocachers to distinguish those geocaches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. Please be respectful of the area, and observe the rules and posted hours. For more information, please visit: www.NWOGEO.org/SpiritQuest/

This is a very small container, but not a micro. It will hold a few small items, but we are not starting this geocache with any swag except the FTF prize. We would like to keep it a simple log book out of respect for its placement.

The container is a rectangular, clear, small Lock & Lock box with some camouflage Duck Tape strategically placed.

We take great care in creating and hiding our geocaches. If ever one of our geocaches needs maintenance of any type, please do not hesitate to contact us by posting a log or by e-mail. We will promptly rectify the problem.

Don't forget Cache In Trash Out.

The FTF prize was a new Thomas Jefferson $1.00 coin. It was claimed by ThreeHearts on August 24, 2007. Congratulations!
