…jumping on the mattress. While searching Odgen Valley for a good place to hide a cache, we found this cool little loop northwest of Liberty formed by North Fork Road, 6925 North, and Durfee Creek Road. There was rock wall thing that made a great hiding spot for an ammo box that we had painted black. This area has an excellent view of the valley, and the was a gorgeous location except for the mattress and box springs that someone dumped nearby. My kids had a lot of fun jumping on it though.
Ogden Canyon was designated last year as one of the top 10 best spots to see the fall foliage. I particularly love the canyon and Ogden Valley in Spring and Summer, and the Winter season brings skiers from near and far. But we couldn’t find many caches in this area that didn’t require some serious hiking or off-roading. So we wanted to place some caches for travelers that don’t have a lot of time to spend hiking or biking, but would like a reason to pull off the road and stretch their legs. With this in mind, this is the third of 3 caches we placed as we journeyed up the canyon and through Ogden Valley on a beautiful summer day in August 2007.
Because of my travels in June, I really came to appreciate those “caches along a route” and “vacation destination” caches. So I resolved to hide more caches that were especially designed for weary travelers that are looking for a quick cache that’s barely off the beaten path.
