Geocache Description:

This cache located in Green Lakes State Park makes for a convenient and peaceful search in beautiful natural surroundings. Find it in 30 minutes or make a day out of it.

This cache, located in Green Lakes State Park, is relatively easy to find and the terrain is fairly flat with a few trees and bushes to go through. This cache, being my first, is relatively easy to get to. It is on the lower side of the park on the beach end, though it is not near the beach. Depending on your mood for adventure and walking, there are several places you can park. I will leave that up to you.

As you can guess from the name, the cache is located in an abandoned (hopefully) entrance to a tunnel made from a 4 legged Green Lakes resident. The tupperware was also spray painted a nice shade of green. The cache is not visible until you remove a few well placed bark scraps and medium sized sticks and branches but you may be able to make out the signs of the hole. (I left it in a way that you can't step on or in the hole directly.) But don't worry. I had excellent reception and my Globalmap 100 put me within 1 foot away.

In the cache you will find a small conch seashell, a new calculator, a never-opened deck of 1996 Olympic playing cards, lighthouse statue, multi colored Post-It notes, and some other goodies.

Good hunting, JJ and Tammy, aka jmaderos

Update 12/29/01: OK, from some of the messages below, it seems the weather has taken its toll on my dear old cache. This morning, I replaced the old cache with a green (I don't have to change the cache name) watertight ammo box. Everything looked dry when I replaced the contents, so thanks to those who did their part to keep it safe. Happy New Year!!!!! - JJ

Update 5/5/05: Wow, it's been a while. Thanks to acadiaboy&girl's posting, I will secure a permit from the Park Police to ensure the cache stays put. The PP said they are being lenient and not confiscating any caches immediately because this permiting is new (and free). Peace - JJ
