Cache in the Clouds Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Jaspa's Journeyers: We've kept this cache going for a long time, despite the fact we no longer visit Toronto quite as often as we used to. But we've decided it's now time to archive this cache, mainly because of the increasing reports of hypodermic needles in the park. It's a shame, but we don't want anyone to get hurt looking for our cache.

Geocache Description:

Discovering Cloud Gardens was something of a revelation to us. Given how often we wander the streets of downtown Toronto, we couldn't believe we'd not stumbled across it before. And according to the plaque on the Construction Worker's Monument, it's been there since at least 1993! A concise but informative description of Cloud Gardens' various features can be found at: http://www.lostrivers.ca/points/cloudgrdnpk.htm

You're looking for a nano! Several people have reported finding a larger container. We couldn't find any trace of this imposter when we did maintenance, but if it is there, it's nothing to do with the cache.

Newsflash: Our cache was featured on an episode of City TV's CityLine on June 19th 2012 - Thanks to L0ne R for letting us know. Have a look at the link (the bit about the cache starts 18 minutes and 30 seconds into the video):

As is to be expected, GPS signals are a bit erratic in this neighbourhood. Nevertheless, the posted coordinates were obtained from multiple readings taken on several visits to the site, and so are as accurate as we can make them.

This is a log only cache, so don't forget to bring a pen, and please write as small as you can! In fact, please restrict your log entry to initials. That way we don't have to replace the log every five minutes.

The cache is outdoors. You don't need to go in the Cloud Forest Conservatory to find it.

Please take extra special care not to drop the cache when retrieving and replacing it. Naturally, since this is a city centre location, 'surreptitious' should be your watchword (and a mighty-fine word it is, too!).

If you're a purist... we're sure you will insist on finding the cache without the aid of the hints. Good luck! Just be aware that the cache container is extremely small and there are loads of places where it could be hidden. Oh, and don't look at the cache's Gallery or the TV episode mentioned above until after you've found it!

If you're the sort of cacher who enjoys the thrill of finding a cache, though without having to spend hours and hours searching for it (and we place ourselves firmly in this camp)... the hints will help you locate the container, though stop short of telling you precisely where it is. Well, there's got to be a little bit of a challenge, hasn't there?!

Please be aware that whilst the cache seems to be available for most of the winter, the City puts up barriers that prevent access after heavy snowfalls.
