Medium Snapware in woods of community park
This is a normal woods cache located in Betty Blume Community Park (aka Potomac Vista Rec Center) which can be accessed via Balmoral Drive (E or W). There's a trail behind the tennis courts and if you head out until you're just past the cache location it should be a medium bushwack depending on season. There are a couple poison ivy vines nearby but not much on the ground that I could see. There are actually two caches in the area because I was experimenting with hiding spots after this cache was muggled so feel free to find either or both.
I was inspired to place this cache by the then ongoing construction of the new Woodrow Wilson Bridge and National Harbor. The back of the park borders the new Maryland side infrastructure (ramps, access roads) for the bridge. The cache is accessible from National Harbor if you walk out the main access road past the cache and then follow the edge of the woods until you find a well worn path in. Conversely, you can access National Harbor from the park if you do the opposite, thereby avoiding parking fees. It's a bit of a walk and people speed on the access road so watch out if you do either of these.
Since some people (including me) have difficulty finding an easy way in here's a blow by blow: Starting from the path entrance by the pond (if starting from tennis courts take left fork, continue to opening by pond and turn around) go 30 feet/10m down the trail where you will find a cluster of trees on the left (trunks have now been cut off ~10ft up) and a big tree on the right. Leave the main path and go to the right (west) of the big tree. The main path turns left here but you go straight to the south. There is a faint trail you can follow. You will need to duck under some brush etc. but it's not bad at all. If you run into a big set of roots from a fallen tree skirt around to the right and try to maintain a generally south course. You may find it easiest to go past the cache location and then loop around back to the right. You don't need to fight through any thickets if you do it right. Also note there are two entrances from the pond. The one to the west which you want is behind a planted tree. The one to the east which you don't want has wooden posts on either side.
