ken.brown66: This has been in place for a good number of years and nearly been washed away several times. I'll replace it with a different one sometime soon.

Alongside public footpath leading from the village of Oxton towards
'Oxton bogs'.
Best parking is in a layby/picnic area alongside the dual
cariageway about 1k north of the Oxton roundabout. The walk starts
alongside an area which was once part of the parkland belonging to
the former Oxton Hall. During WWII it was cultivated to help with
the war effort. In 1982 it was restored to grassland and a
tree-planting programme began in an attempt to make it look more
like a traditional park. The remainder of the walk is along a
track, following the footpath signs, down through a pine forest
(where GPS signals may disappear - they will return!)and along the
path towards Oxton bogs. Walking terrain is good although the path
through the woods can be slippery after heavy rain.
