Geocache Description:

Short description

A simple cache close to the cottage Dikartorp. Make sure you hide it well after logging it!

OBSERVE! New coordinates since 2010-APR-11.

OBSERVE/OBSERVERA

The area, and the people in the area, are very sensitive to cachers. Please be very respectful and careful to not cause any problems when looking for the cache. The cache has been moved so that you hardly need to leave the road to find it. Please see the hint if you are not sure. You must exercise extreme caution when going for this cache, this is a muggle-intense area with lots of people walking about!!!

This is part in a round of five caches that will take you around the old cottages that used to belong to castle Görväln in the nice area of lake Mälaren. This part of Mälaren is called Görväln and is also a very biologically interesting area. Carl von Linnaeus was enticed with the various rare species of plants, insects and bats that can be found in this area.

History

Dikartorp, Henrikstorp and Slammertorp are three farms that was in use already by the 1530'ies under castle Görväln. The farms were all used until different times depending on how far they were from Görväln. Dikartorp until 1818 and Slammertorp until 1907.

At Slammertorp there are two cottages left. Henrikstorps living quarters is severely modernized and at Dikartorp there are no remaining original structures except a foundation.

Baset lies very nicely close to Mälarens water and was probably built around 1728. One small cottage remains from this time and then there are some modern buldings too. Today it is used by one of the local Christian congregations.

Marhagen south of Görväln was inhabited since 1627 and was in use all the way into the 1910's. Today Marhagen also have some later buildings.

Special care in this nature

Parts of the nature around here is sensitive. Pleace follow the instructions on the signs. In some parts bicycling is not allowed. In most parts mopeds and other vehicles with engines are not allowed to be operated. Dogs should be kept on a leash at all times since this is a nature reservation. Use the gravel roads and well marked paths as much as possible and don't tear away the moss on rocks when looking for the caches.

Bring something to drink and eat. There are many very beautiful places around this area well suited for picnics.

More caches will come. :-)
