This is a short walk through the lower slopes of Bennachie starting
from the Back o' Bennachie carpark. It is signposted from north of
the village of Oyne.
Follow the Gilree Burn Walk - the red route- which follows the
Gilree Burn uphill before crossing over it and takes a circular
route back to the carpark. It says the walk will take an hour, but
it really only takes a 1/2hr. We come here often with the dogs who
love the fresh running water, and felt there should be a cache
here. The first 'sculpture' is a piece of polished granite in the
burn itself. It is difficult to read now, but is inscribed 'the
tumbling of the water is the teeming of life'. There are a further
two sculptures to be seen before the cache site. They also are
inscribed.
You could easily add on one of DocDocs
caches to this one, as it has the same start. Thanks to Jackie
Cumberbirch, Recreation Ranger for allowing this cache to be
placed. The cache is a regular box filled with the usual swaps
and is not far from the path at all.
