The Valley of the Seven Lakes of Triglav

Ledvicka

Something more about the Triglav Lakes Valley:

Triglav Lakes in the heart of the Triglav National Park lies the valley of the seven Triglav lakes, the homeland of the mythological white mountain goat Zlatorog. The ancient trails of shepherds lead us through high alpine forests into the world of herdsmen and their rustic wooden cottages. Hiking deeper in to the valley you enter into an oasis of untouched primieval nature that embraces its visitors with innocence, silence and exuberant beauty. Your efforts are rewarded with beautiful scenery - mountain peaks in the crystal clear waters of the Triglav lakes.
This is the kingdom of Zlatorog, the mysterious white Chamois who used to rule the Julian Alps. Guarding his treasure Zlatorog lived in the national park and protected it's beauty. However greed caused a hunter to track and shoot the chamois. Zlatorog's magic powers helped him kill the hunter before he disappeared from his mountain paradise forever, but left his treasures for all to enjoy forever.

The raised Triglav Lakes Valley is reached by a climb up from the Koca pri Savici Hut in Bohinj via the steep incline of  Komarca.

The Triglav Lakes Valley, one of the most beautiful in the Julian Alps, is famous for its seven lakes and other natural wonders. Each of the seven lakes was named after its characteristics. The lakes are located between 1319 m and 2002 m above sea level. The first and highest (1993 m) lake »Pod Vrsacem Lake« (Jezero pod Vršacem) is hydrologically separated from the others that supply the waters of the Savical Waterfall. The Lake is 90 m long, 60 m wide and up to 5 m deep. It is hydrologically cut off from the other Triglav Lakes since the water does not flow along the Valley of the Triglav Lakes but towards the Soca in Zadnjiski dol. Only in late summer does the Lake appear from beneath the snow cover, and a sheet of ice on the surface is no rarity. The lake is damned by scree from below Vrsac and on the opposite bank, limestone pavements have formed. Access: From Zasavska koca on Prehodavci by marked path towards Zadnjiski Vrsac. Access is possible cross-country.

The Brown Lake (Rjavo jezero) is in a basin close to Zasavska koca on Prehodavci the crumbling of the stone has allowed the creation of a lake about 150 m long and 100 m wide. The surface area fluctuates widely during the year, and thus the size and depth of the lake, which is up to 10 m. In the summer, a three meter wide brown belt appears around the reduced lake, from which it gets its name. If we drop to the lake from Hribarice, it appears - seen from a height - as a real brown pool, so it is surprising to discover that the water in it is completely clear. Access: By the transversai trail from Triglav Lakes Hut to Prehodavci.

The Third Lake – »Pod Vrsaki puddle« is covered with snow long during springtime. The shallowest of the Triglav Lakes is only two meters deep is The Green Lake (Zeleno jezero). The shape changes with its level and the measurements of the lake are approximately 100 m long and 80 m wide. The green colour, which gives the lake, its name comes from algae.
Access: The transversal mountain path from Triglav Lakes Hut to Prehodavci leads past the lake. One of the trails across Hribarice to Dolic turns off close to the lake.

The Large or Fourth Lake (Veliko jezero ali Jezero v Ledvicah) is the largest and deepest of the Triglav Lakes. It is 320 m long, 120 m wide and 15 m deep. It is named after a picturesque cracked rocky protrusion on the northwest side of the lake - Ledvica (kidney). The Cache is hidden on a big mountain rock near the Lake :)

The Double Lake (Dvojno jezero) in the lower part of the Valley of the Triglav Lakes formed at the juncture of slaty Jurassic sandstones (easily recognized by the reddish colour) and compacted limestone. In spring the two lakes become one. Dvojno jezero is one of the Triglav Lakes lying in the mountain pine and larch belt.
Access: By marked path from Crno jezero or from Prehodavci: from the Bohinj side to planina Ovcarija and across Stapce.

The Blake Lake (Crno jezero) is the last of the Triglav Lakes lies in a basin on the edge of Komarca. On the north side, there are the extensive screes of the southern part of Stador. Because of the relatively low attitude, spruce thrive here, giving the surroundings of the lake a special charm and the dark colour from which the lake gets its name. The lake is 150 m long, 80 m wide and 6 m deep. As with the other lakes, the level fluctuates widely. The water is the warmest of all the lakes, suitable for bathing in summer. Access: From Koca pri Savici across Komarca or from Komna Hut along the picturesque edge above Bohinj. It is another two hours walk to The Double Lake.

You can find a cache in two ways!

First way/possibility/approach:

At coordinates N 46 19.123 E 013 46.737 you will find a XXX number.

Use this number XXX to calculate next waypoint: N 46 20.(XXX+215) and E 013 46.(XXX+805).

On this coordinates you will find second number Y.

To find a cache use this formula: Convert XXX into a binary number: Now XXX is represented with numbers 1 and 0... Now find 4 integer/(whole numbers), which summ XXX!!! They should be A, B, C, D from which D has smalest value and A the bigest. They are in relation to decimal 2 binear conversion. Now calculate final coordinates: N 46 (B+C).(C*A+B+C) and E 0(B-C+D) (B*C-B-D).0(B*C+D).

Continue first way, but without math/riddle:

If the math/riddle is to hard, you can go to N 46 21.484, E 013 47.537, but you have a bit more walking to do, but you wil see some more lakes on the way there. :) You will find a cabin/hut, near to it you wil find the signpost with Z different directions. Use Z to find a cache. Formula N 46 20.(Z+2)(Y)(Y-1) E 013 47.(Z-3)(Z+3)(Z+2).

Second way/possibility/approach:

IF you access the cache from north just go to: N 46 21.484, E 013 47.537. You will find a cabin/hut. Nearby you will find the signpost with Z different directions. Use Z and you will find second waypoint: N 46 20.(Z)(Z+3)(Z+1) and E 013 46.(3*Z)(Z+2)(Z+1)

On this coordinates you will find second number Y.

(you are looking for an number)

To find a cache use this formula N 46 20.(Z+2)(Y)(Y-1) E 013 47.(Z-3)(Z+3)(Z+2).

Enjoy!!
