Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed near the site where Bernie vacationed in the summer of 2003.

For those who have met Bernie, you know his story. For those who do not know him, here’s a bit of history...

On October 1, 2001, leakim released Bernie (GC2179), a traveling geocache (no longer permitted by gc.com), near the B.C./ Alberta border. Bernie’s goal was simple…to get as far east as possible.

He traveled province by province across Canada and by April of 2003, Bernie had found his way to Nova Scotia. He spent the next couple months fishing at Londery Falls, resting by the Musquodoboit River, watching eagles in Shubenacadie and planes land near the airport.

On July 7, 2003, C&C+ Company picked Bernie up near St.Croix and brought him here, to this waterfall in Blomidon Park.

Bernie spent the entire summer of 2003 here beside the waterfall, until September 27, when the FallRiverFoursome “…found Bernie happily resting in the shadow of Blomindon on a beautiful fall morning.”

The FallRiverFoursome took Bernie to Halifax where he waited out Hurricane Juan and later, was anxiously picked up by The Lost Geeks.

Bernie eventually traveled on to Cape Breton and by November 2004, thanks to Beaver Pelt, was finally in Newfoundland where he spent the next 2 years.

By July 2006, Bernie was spotted back in Nova Scotia and even revisited the valley for a short time.

Check out all of Bernie's adventures, including his "farewell to N.S." party and his trip back home @ (visit link)

To provide a better hiding spot, our cache has been placed approx. 20m from Bernie's 2003 coordinates but still within the park. It is still approachable from the picnic area so you will have to cross the same stream & climb the steep bank to get to the cache. Please use caution as there is old fencing on the ground near the cache.

THIS IS NOT BERNIE – DO NOT MOVE THIS CACHE!!
