Albus Dumbledore: After four years of fun times, we're taking our four Harry-Potter-themed caches (Nitwit, Blubber, Oddment, and Tweak) off of the Mt. Woodson geocaching circuit. It is our hope that the next generation of dedicated geocachers will relish the chance to pepper the mountain with new caches. Until we meet again, cheerio!

Geocache Description:


“Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! Thank you!”

This is the first cache in a series of four, all located just off the fire access road of Mt. Woodson. It is an intensely steep 1.8-mile hike to the summit that showcases some of the best views in Ramona. Parking is available along Highway 67 (look for the new large and rather ugly gray CDF mailbox). The trailhead is on the side of the CDF driveway.

The geocaching starts halfway to the summit, just when you begin to lose hope that the hike will ever end. The caches themselves are medium-sized, locking plastic containers. They’re filled with above-average geoswag - enjoy!

Though the hike starts on a dirt trail, the majority of the walking takes place on a wide, paved road. The best advice we can give to the next hiker: wear sneakers and bring copious quantities of water. Good luck!
