Describing Numbers Mystery Cache

Cache is not at the posted coordinates, they actual coordinates can be determined from the puzzle. Supposed to not be avaliable after 5 or so, but I have seen them close down later than that. NOTE: There is now a fee for out-of-towners to enter the park; it was free when the cache was placed. See comment from hotshoe with times and days where the park is free for everyone.
Cache is located at N37 46.ABC, W122 28.XYZ where ABC is less than XYZ So the other day I went to place a cache. I wanted to make a puzzle to go along with it, but I just couldn’t think of one. Dimkasmir asked me what the final coordinates were, but I thought- rather then tell him, I should just describe the numbers! Then, the puzzle might come to me. I told him that all he needed to find was the same three digits ABC and three digits XYZ that I’m asking you to find. Our conversation went something like this: OwlCacher: Well, let’s see… if you add up the digits ABC and square them, you will get XYZ. Dimkasmir: What a strange coincidence! And if you add up the digits in XYZ and square them, would you get ABC? OwlCacher: No, but subtracting the sum of the digits of ABC from ABC itself would yield the square of the sum of the digits in XYZ. Dimkasmir: That’s too confusing! Although confusion, now that I think about it, is the point of geocaching puzzles. I think I know what you are talking about. (A few minutes later) Okay, I found a few sets of coordinates fitting those constraints- but how do I know which one is right? OwlCacher: XYZ is between ABC and 2(ABC) Dimkasmir: So that means that the cache is at N37… That’s as much as I’m gonna give you. And so, I had my puzzle. Reception at the spot might not be the best, use the hint to narrow down your search. Several ways to approach cache, terrain can go up if you use the most direct one.
