Geocache Description:

This cache will take you to a pull off, where you can easily park. The cache should be easy to located. This cache should be a quick park and grab.

Here is some history I have found from different sources on Silver Grove:

The city of Silver Grove is located along the Ohio River and KY. 8. Silver Grove differs from bordering cities because it was a premeditated community instead of a settlement.

The “company town” was designed, planned, managed and built completely by C & O Railroad.

In 1914 a local newspaper described Silver Grove as the most modern city in Northern Kentucky due to its advantages of electric lights, city water, a city manager and most importantly it’s own sewage plant. The new city also had it’s own fire department, school and park. In the late 1800’s silver grove area was known for Phoenix Grove a recreational resort on the Ohio River.

However, Silver Grove did have its problems with flooding in 1937 causing extensive home damage. By 1948 the railroad company wanted out of city management and the residents of Silver Grove finally incorporated in 1951 with Gerald Losey as their first mayor.

The railroad yard of Silver Grove has since closed but the tradition of the railroad and its history still remains.
