Bumbo Pond is another small and little known Adirondack Pond
that lies just inside the Northern most section of the Pharoah Lake
Wilderness Area. Fishing for Northern Pike, Yellow Perch and
Pumpkinseed is allowed year round, but special restrictions apply
during the winter. See the DEC web site for
more details.
From the parking area, it is a fairly easy bushwhack to the
cache. Total distance to the cache is a little over 1/10th of a
mile. For an easy bushwhack, look over the guard rails and note the
culvert where Bumbo drains through. If you stay to the left side
(East) up on the bank you should pick up a faint herd path.
Continue along the bank with the outlet on your right and in a very
short distance you should come to a cleared trail which will lead
you the short distance to the pond. On your way back, follow the
same route. Don’t attempt to take the trail all the way out as it
will bring you onto private property.
Finally, I’d like to thank my caching partner Kojak77 for
donating some of the supplies for this cache. Work responsibilities
have kept him away from caching and he insisted that I put his
donated items to good use. Good Caching!
