Finding this cache will give you a tour of Longmont’s Stephen Day Park. Stephen Day is one of Longmont’s heroes from the Vietnam era. At your final destination you will have a chance to read more about this young man who received a Purple Heart and 9 other awards for his heroic actions.
Bring your BMX bike, skateboard, basket ball, dog, volley ball, swimsuit or a picnic. There is something for everybody at this park.
Your starting coordinates are at:
N 40° 10.973´
W 105° 03.885´
Note the number of kilometers at this point. Don’t worry you won’t have to travel that far to your next point. But you need that number to travel to the highest mountain on earth. Use the number of kilometers at the starting point to reach the highest mountain on earth at:
N 40° 10.(900 + # of kilometers)´
W 105° 03.(647 + # of kilometers)´
Now that you have arrived at the highest mountain on earth note the year on the marker. Isn’t this a great piece of art and a nice place to just relax? To reach your next point use the year on the marker and proceed to the highest point in this park at:
N 40° 10.(Year on the marker - 1001)´
W 105° 03.770
You have now arrived at the highest point in this park and are standing between two trees. Take a moment to look around at all this park offers. Walk Northeast to the bottom of the very small mountain you are standing on. Count the number of rocks at the foot of the mountain and use them in the coordinates to your final destination. (number of rocks + 1 = x, number of rocks - 1 = y ):
N 40° 10.948
W 105° 03.x8y
You have reached your final destination. The cache is a log only. Beware of muggles - they hang out here a lot! Good luck in your hunt!
