Duteau Creek Cache Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This heavily camoed small cache is easily accessed by turning off Hwy #6 onto Dure Meadow Road . Immediately after turning onto Dure Meadow road there is plenty of room to safely park before the Duteau Creek bridge. Dure Meadow Road can receive a fair amount of traffic turning on and off Hwy #6 at times so please exercise some caution when parking and crossing the road. Access to this cache has been kindly granted by the property owners so as always please tread lightly, and take care to leave things as you find them. The cache itself is big enough for small trade items and trackables like geocoins.
The Duteau Creek cache is situated close to Duteau Creek along Hwy #6 between Lavington and Lumby. As Duteau Creek flows through the surrounding golf course this area is rich in fish, birds, and other wildlife. Trout spawn in this creek in the spring and salmon can be observed spawning here in the fall. Deer, turtles, mink, and otters may also be seen . In keeping with ongoing stream and wildlife enhancement efforts it is noteworthy that in maintaining the greens no fungicides have been used since 2005 and no herbicides have been used since 2003.
