Donii's "Pet" Cache contains lots of fun items for you and your pet (Dog or Cat). It is a very easy cache beside the Trans Canada Highway just east of Grand Falls - Windsor.
Donii had been my 4-legged geocaching buddy since I discovered this adventurous activity in 2005; she loved the thrill of the cache hunt and guarding me as I signed the logs (by 'guard', I mean she would lick any strangers into hysterics). It seemed only fitting to have a pet cache in her honour and for all the canine cachers who seem to enjoy the thrill of caching (at least the hiking part) as much as we humans.
Donii's Pet Cache is now a memorial cache as Donii went on to the ultimate caching adventure on the other side of rainbow bridge at the dear old age of 14 years. She is dearly missed; however, Annoo has joined in the fun to carry on Donii's glee in the cache hunt.
This "Pet" Cache contains many NEW dog and cat items such as leash bags, tennis balls, and cat toys. Many of these new items are all in plastic baggies to protect them. There are also many non-pet traditional geocache items in the cache. Feel free to trade any of the items in the cache for a non-pet or a pet item of your own. Please NO pet treats/food or scented items (or a 4-legged critter may run away with the cache).
Make sure you sign the log book and if you like, leave a photo of your pet in the log book. Donii & I would love to see your furry or feathery friends.
While in central Newfoundland consider visiting the caches on the Corduroy Brook Trail. This is a gorgeous trail system in Grand Falls - Windsor and very dog-friendly. Stop in GF-W and give yourself and your furry friend a nice exercise break.
The cache is a fair size plastic container that is dressed in duck tape. It is hanging in an evergreen tree so it can be accessed all-year round (at least until the snow reaches about 3 feet in height).
For safety reasons, please access this cache while driving west toward Grand Falls - Windsor. (If you are travelling east, you can turn around at the Bishop's Falls overpass which is only about 1-2 km away so you will be on the same side of the highway as the cache.)
