Geocache Description:

This is a multi cache with four different stage designs and hides. The above coordinates will bring you to the first stage. All of the stage caches can be found without climbing on the structures associated with the coordinates. Please show respect and do not climb.

This multi-cache will take you around the town of Fertile for the first three stages and the Fertile Sand Hills for the final stages. The first three stages are micros. You will not have to climb on anything to find any of the stages. The end cache is a regular sized, camo-painted ammunition can hidden just off one of the beautiful woodland and prairie trails that run through the Fertile Sand Hills.

The Fertile Sand Hills is a 640-acre natural area open to the public throughout the year. It includes over 10 miles of scenic recreational trails that can be used for hiking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, and snowmobiling. It also includes a 10-site campground and the Agassiz Environmental Learning Center. The sand hills were formed by periods of drought and wind eroding the sands deposited as one of the former beach lines of Glacial Lake Agassiz. Today, several rare Minnesota landscapes (i.e., active sand dunes, oak savannahs) and plant and animal species make their home in the Fertile Sand Hills. In addition, the Sand Hill River runs through the sand hills providing yet another ecosystem to explore in the Fertile Sand Hills and is often open in the middle of winter, which enhances the opportunity for winter wildlife and bird observations.
