Geocache Description:

This is near the southern end of the Middleton Fell ridge which provides excellent walking. Approach from Barbon or from the other caches on the fell for a grand day out.

The cache is on the side of Castle Knott in an abandoned sheep fold just below the summit cairn.

A small track leads up the fell from Barbon Park. It passes Devil's Crag and a small cairn on Eskholme Knott, before the contours relent and a rounded ridge is followed to the top. Some small tarns are near the first top which are handy for geohounds. See also GC1BW47

Other caches are about and you can make a full traverse of the fell. Either sort out transport or link up various paths and roads to return along the valley. Unfortunately the old railway line is not a right of way, although it would make an excellent path/cycle route.
