Geocache Description:


CACHE DESCRIPTION
This cache will take you to railroad related sites in Dromod, Co. Leitrim. If you decide to walk in between stages, please be careful on the road.

Info:
The Dromod railway station is conveniently situated on the Dublin-Sligo line.

The Midland Great Western Railway (MGWR) Mullingar-Sligo line was the first railway to serve Leitrim. It opened in 1862 and had its sole station in Leitrim at Dromod. The station was designed by George Wilkinson and built in 1885.

The Cavan and Leitrim Narrow Gauge Railway opened in 1887. Due to the sparsely populated terrain, there was little passenger traffic, and in later years coal from Arigna was to become its main reason for survival. In 1959, the last train ran, and the track was lifted shortly afterwards. The Station Master`s House, flanked by waiting room and stores, is located near the MGWR station.
Part of the old Cavan and Leitrim narrow gauge line has been restored from Dromod. Visitors can go on a guided train ride and tour the workshops and engine sheds.

Look around and find a plaque with an inscription. How many letters are in the first word of the third line?
Answer = A

Drive or walk to N53 51.566, W007 54.988.
Look around. It`s in black and white. How many hands do you see?
Answer = B
How many words are there?
Answer = C

Go to N53 51.556, W007 55.011.
Look around and find a metal post. On this post, you will see the letters LP followed by 2 digits. Note the last digit.
Answer = D

A walk or drive will take you to the final at

N53 51.(D+C)(D+A-C)(A-B), W007 54.(D+C-B)(D+C-B)A

You will find a rectangular plastic container. There is a scratch card for the FTF!
