Red Rock Canyon is about 15 miles from our house and it's one of
our favorite places to go. There are many geocaches in the park,
but not on the Rough Horsetail Trail. We thought the trail needed
more visitors, so that's where we put this cache. The cache is
about a quarter mile down the trail from the parking area. Once
you've found this cache, there are others along the loop of the
trail as well as further south in the park.
The cache container is a 6" lock-n-lock.
This geocache was Elijah's project for 4-H. He found the
location, asked permission from the staff, picked out the
container, and helped to paint it. He made a presentation with
photos and drawings and sent it to the Caddo County Fair. At the
county fair, it came in first place and went on to the State Fair.
At the Fair, it placed third.
NOTE: On 2 November 2008, I replaced the cache, which had
been taken. I moved the box about 25 feet further away from the
trail, so there is a little more underbrush to wade through. I've
added another 1/2 to the difficulty and terrain as a result.
On March 5, 2011, I replaced it again with a 6" lock-n-lock.
