Geocache Description:

Regular cache located just off the famous Rubicon trail. Access is available from Loon Lake or from Lake Tahoe near Tahoma. Ratings may vary by seasonal conditions and whether you choose to hike or drive to the cache. Be safe and never travel alone.

This is the Socal4x4Geocachers first geocache along the famous Rubicon trail. Several of our members travel the trail each year but this is our first cache along the trail.

The location is the top of the ridge overlooking Big Sluice before you head down into Big Sluice (if going east) or before heading down to Buck Island lake (if going west). There is plenty of area here to park next to the trail without blocking other vehicles.

The coords were taken quickly during a lightning storm and since I didn't want to become a human grounding rod, I got out of there quickly. If the coords are a bit off, please let us know. The cache itself contains plenty of handy things to have on the trail like duct tape, bungee cords, tools gloves, etc. Please trade accordingly and use as necessary.

Below is a map of the trail. Click on the map for a link to a full size downloadable version. Thanks to www.californiajeeper.com for the use of the map.

Special thanks to Mike and Peri for their assistance with cache maintenance.
