Geocache Description:

Bethel Mission

Cache is located on the grounds of the Berea Church Cemetery. The cemetery is located just North of the Natchez Trace. You are looking for a small green match safe. Bring your on pen to sign the log. After locating the cache, take the opportunity to travel about 1/4 mile South of the cemetery to view the Bethel Mission Historical Marker on the Natchez Trace. Cache's are prohibited on the National Park Service property. The Bethel Mission was opened in 1822 as one of the thirteen Choctaw Mission Stations. The Missionaries took the gospel to the wilderness. They also taught farming, carpentry, weaving & housekeeping as well as reading, writing & arithmetic to Choctaw and other area children.
