Geocache Description:

The second of five mural multi-stage caches in Stony Plain

The Cache is NOT at the posted coordinates

THE HOOK!

This is the second of five multi-stage caches where you must use information gathered from visiting a number of beautiful Stony Plain murals (5) in order to gather clues that lead you to a final set of coordinates which is where the actual cache is hidden. Through visiting each mural, you will be able to equate numbers to letters and then be able to solve for the final cache coordinates per below. Keep in mind that all letters and corresponding numbers may not be required in order to solve for the final coordinates, however (hopefully) you still need to visit every mural in order to get the numbers that you need.

Just to be clear, there are 5 murals in this stage ... and 5 murals in each of the other four stages (other 4 cache listings) - so in all you will be visiting 25 murals if you complete all 5 stages. Only once you have completed all 5 stages will you have the information necessary to find the Bonus Cache.

Some of these multi-stage mural caches will be a short and pleasant walk, while others will require a short drive instead.

Please enjoy your travel's around our town, whether walking or driving .... and in addition to enjoying the murals, please stop into some of our quaint little shops. You will certainly learn much about our little piece of Heaven we call Stony Plain. If you would like a mural's guide and directory, they can be found at The Town of Stony Plain Administration building at 4905 - 51 Avenue during regular business hours of course. You don't need the guide to complete any of the mural caches in Stony Plain, nor will it provide you the answers to any of the questions posed within the individual mural listing cache pages, however it is a nice keepsake. Have fun!!

THE TIE-IN!

MURAL#1

The coordinates for the first mural in this stage is N53 31.722 and W114 00.462, leading you to the mural “The Life and Times of Murray & Esme Byers” – artist Bill Dixon.

Now study this mural carefully …. Take note of the sign stating ‘pocket books for sale for ** cents’. Let the first number be 'A', and the second number be 'B'. Also note the number of rabbits penned up … That number will be represented by 'C'.

MURAL#2

Now to get to the next mural, you need to project a waypoint from the first mural (AB+B) metres at 213 degrees True (make sure your GPS is set to 'True' NOT 'Magnetic'). This should now give you coordinates for the 2nd mural in this series.

Now here is an angry looking hombre – read about him …. Fascinating stuff isn’t it? There is a two-digit number on the train – the first digit being a 2. Let’s call the 2nd digit 'D'. O/K … Time for a short stroll …..

MURAL#3

Now on to mural number 3 in this series …. project a waypoint (from mural #2) at (B+C+D) metres at (BD x 2) degrees True.

O/K ... you're halfway there now, standing in front of mural #3 in this series. There sure are a lot of murals out here isn’t there? You will be visiting them all at some point if you finish off the series.

Now mural #3 in this series is a mural celebrating the women of early Stony Plain. Study it carefully and look for a ‘scroll’ of sorts stating "Collect for Club Women" and a year behind it. The year can be represented as follows … the first number being a 'E', the second number a 'F', the third a 'G' and the last number being 'H'

MURAL#4

O/K … Ready for mural #4 in this series ... project a waypoint HG metres at CD degrees True. Still with me, hope your math is good!

This will take you to a very gentle / tranquil setting and a gorgeous picture / mural. Take note of the number of horses AND children in this scene and we’ll call that total 'I'.

MURAL#5

Now onto the final mural in this series. Project a waypoint EF metres at IEI degree's True – leading to a very large mural celebrating early commerce in Stony Plain.

In one scene there are a number of fish hanging on a rod – Add 1 to that amount (for the big one that got away .... of course) and we’ll call that total 'J'. Wasn’t that a great little stroll through town – probably only took you 30 to 45 minutes (depending on your math skills and how well you can work that GPSr thingy).

THE ORGANIZER!

Well now you have everything you need to plot the coordinates and then find the actual cache location. The cache coordinates are ...

North 53 IA.DAH ...... West 114 GG.AEJ

Now go find the cache - it will be an ammo can and has an FTF prize with it. The cache itself will be initially stocked with the usual swag - so please trade accordingly.

THE KICKER!
Hope you enjoyed your travels to find this one and please take note of the clue(s)? in each cache in order to find the bonus cache and .... perhaps .... The Surprise Cache?

Once you've completed the five sets of mural caches and jotted down the clues (write down everything) you should be able to find the bonus cache which will be chock full of some great stuff and of course an FTF and perhaps more - see the listing for more information.

Then with additional information from the bonus cache (and all the other caches ... remember jot down EVERYTHING) ... perhaps decipher the requirements for the final surprise cache - no clues for that one - will take some thinking to come up with those coordinates! Although, by going to the related cache page, there will be a bit of a hint.
