Geocache Description:

Just off a fire break overlooking the Hutt Valley. 340m climb from sea level.

Ok;

This cache is hidden just off a fire break overlooking the Hutt valley. It really is a great view from here and I advise any visitors to the region to go up and have a look.

The easiest (but not necessarily the shortest) way is to park your car on the top of the Wainuimata hill road (On the side heading TOWARDS Wainuiomata).

You can then walk up along the ridge until you find the spot that you are looking for.

A more direct route, although possibly a difficulty of 5, would be to head up from the Hutt Side.

The original contents of the cache are as follows.

  • 1 x Jewelers Screwdriver Set
  • 2 x 4pack of AA batteries (incase your GPS is getting tired
  • 2 x Tornado Tube Toys
  • 6 x Keyrings
  • 2 x Stress Balls
  • 2 x Bicycle Puncture Repair kits. This trail is popular with mountain bikers so I thought that this might be handy.
  • 1 x Disposable Camera. Please leave this in the cache. But feel free to take a photo of yourself infront of the magnificant view and I will get them developed and up on the web
  • Standard Geocache Note
  • Log Book and Pen

Everything is in it's own plastic bag and the whole lot is in a clear tupperware container with a green lid.

As an added bonus I have taken a high quality panoramic photo from the cache position. I have placed this on the Internet but you need a username and password to access it. These are written on the inside of the lid of the Cache. Enter these at http://geocache.deanpemberton.com to get your prize

It really is a nice view and the photo is worth downloading and printing. It is an 800k download as a Jpeg, but I have a 20Meg tiff which is availible by emailing me with the right username and password cachephotorequest@deanpemberton.com

Have fun
