Geocache Description:

This is the second cache in the Toowoomba Parks and Gardens series.

Queens Park Gardens is the centrepiece of the Garden City, just a short walk from Toowoomba's Central Business District. It is one of the oldest gardens in Toowoomba, covering 26.3 hectares. It was planned and developed by Walter Hill, a Government Botanist and superintendent of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens.

Feature areas of the Garden are:

  • The Fountain Area
  • Monument and Lawns
  • The Rose Garden
  • Woodland Area
  • Parterre Gardens

This park is venue to many events, for example the monthly Queens Park Markets, the annual Shakespeare in Queens Park Festival (end of February/beginning of March) and the Gospel Music Festival at Easter. During the Carnival of Flowers (September), the parade end and side-show alley are located in Queens Park, as well as the Food and Wine Festival.

During daytime you may need to feed the parking metre.
