Cache is a 50cal ammo can located approx. 25' from the rocky dirt road that leads to Surveyors Lookout, elev. 6180', in the St. Joe National Forest.
Access via a rugged single-lane road with pullouts. Not recommended for low clearance vehicles. Road may be slick when wet.
The Surveyors Ridge Lookout is part of the cabin rental program. Click (here) for more info.
Please respect the privacy of the lookout renters.
The 30 foot lookout tower overlooks the spectacular Mallard-Larkins Pioneer Area, Snow Peak and the surrounding mountains. Snow Peak, Middle Sister and Mallard Peak Lookouts are still standing and can be seen from Surveyors.
There is also a benchmark near the tower.
Snow Peak can be seen from the cache site.
We thought it appropriate that the cache also overlooks the Cache Creek drainage.
The cache contains several of the finest items that can be had for a dollar at the local *mart stores, and a couple of special items for FTF and/or STF.
We had not intended for this to be our first hide, but when we discovered there was no cache here already we HAD to place one in this spectacular area.
Please re-secure the cache container with the rocks.
