Geocache Description:

Stunning views over the Pennine hills

Wainman's Pinnacle is one of the "Salt and Pepper pots" that dominate the skyline above Cowling. The pinnacle was commissioned by the Wainman family of Carr Head Hall some time after 1815 but the exact date and the reason for its construction are unclear. One theory is that it was to commemorate the defeat of Napoleon.

The easiest approach is probably from the parking area indicated but it can be incorporated into a bracing circular walk from Cowling

This is a very popular place for picnicking families but there are some very steep drops in this area. It was a beautiful sunny day when we placed the cache but it will probably be raining when you go! Make sure you assess the risks for yourself before proceeding.
