Geocache Description:

Welcome to our newest in our series of Lamp Post caches! Over the years, we have collected and envisioned some very non-traditional cache containers, but did not have the means for waterproofication. AHA, we thought - we can use a lamp post cover as a rain/snow shield! Thus, our series was born. Hope you enjoy them, and don't forget to bring a pen!And be careful to watch out for the geo-traps

How to Catch a Geocacher

Simple Geo-Trap. No harm to geocacher

Steps
  1. Place 5 gallon plastic bucket in area of geocachers.
  2. Put near something which geocacher can climb. Bucket should be right next to anything that the geocacher can climb, such as a wood pile.
  3. Dab peanut butter around the inside about an inch and a half and further down.
  4. Hope that the geocacher will fall in the bucket and can't jump out.
  5. Set around the conventional store bought traps.
  6. Cover a complete oaktag with double sided extra sticky tape, place peanut butter in dots through the paper. It is known that geocachers tend to go for the chocolate and chip bags rather than the traditional peanut butter.
  7. Leave it. If a geocacher is caught and is dead leave it tied to the trap in the geocacher hole. The geocachers will see you are an enemy and in most cases they get frightened and move to the next cache. (Sorry next door neighbor.)

Tips

  • Humane traps are a better option. They are now widely available in home improvement stores and online. This trap allows you to set the cacher free, while you get to live pest-free!
  • Larger geocachers may jump out. Check each morning
  • Electric traps work way better than mechanical traps, in case you decide to buy a trap.
  • NEVER use a sticky-tape trap. This causes unnecessary suffering (dehydration, starvation, ripped skin) for the geocacher. Please choose a humane trap instead.
Happy Caching
