The coordinates above will bring you to the spot pictured to the
left. This is a great spot to start your visit to Fort Ord
BLM Lands as it contains a wealth of information. The cache
is a very short walk from this location. There used to be a
fairly complex Multi Cache that started near this spot called
Quiz Show Cache. In keeping with the original theme of
that creative concept, take the following quiz regarding some rules
and information about the BLM Lands. Enjoy your visit :)
The cache is located at N36 38.8AB W121 45.4CD

Cars and Fort Ord BLM:

Chances are, your first indication that you are approaching or
actually on Fort Ord BLM Lands will be an encounter with a
barricade such as is shown in the photo to the left. So lets
test your moral compass a bit....the question is, what do you do
when you encounter a a gate or barrier such as this and you slow
down just long enough to read the sign?
| Answer |
A = ? |
| Drive around the annoying
barrier and shave 30 minutes off the approach to the
cache. |
4 |
| Stop and look around to see
if a Ranger is nearby, then drive through. |
8 |
| I hear they might impound my
car...well heck I needed a new car anyway. |
5 |
| Stop! and obey the
sign. Possible fine, court appearance, and impounding of car
sounds kind of ugly. Besides, I'm a law abiding
Geocacher. |

UXO: Closed Areas and Geocaching:

There are still vast areas of the former Fort Ord that are
unsafe for travel. Most, if not all, are very clearly marked
with signs, and occasionally by fences like in the picture to the
left. The BLM calls these areas,
Unexploded Ordinance Areas (or UXO). While usually not a
problem with Geocaching, you should get yourself a
MAP or the excellent KMZ file.
For the next question, reference this
Edited Fort Ord BLM Map. There are five colored dots that
represent fictional cache placements. Choose the colored dot
on the map that appears to be a safe placement for a Geocache and
enter the corresponding number for B.

Geocache Containers:
One of the concerns that has come up with regards to Geocaching
is appropriate cache containers in the Fort Ord BLM Lands.
There is still lots of discarded military hardware out in the
backcountry, and some containers, understandably, cause more alarm
with the BLM staff than others. Look at the pictures
below, and choose the best container for value C
Endangered Species and Habitat Protection:
Another aspect that the BLM's duties include is protection of
endangered species and habitats. Along with this is the
eradication of non-native plants from the Fort Ord
backcountry.
Choose from the pictures below, the protected species on the
Fort Ord BLM Area. Take the number below the picture that
corresponds to your answer and use that for value D
