This cache was set as a tribute to one of our less famous explorers Matthew Flinders
Matthew flinders was born in donnington, lincolnshire in 1774 and died in 1814 he is buried in London, Flinders a trained navigator sailed around australia with his cat tess he infact suggested the name australia this name was adopted in 1824. there is a statue in the market place of flinders and tess, and in St Mary's church there is a satined glass window celebrating his exploits and a bust of flinders, on the right of the church are 2 graves one of which is that of Samuel Flinders, the brother of matthew flinders.
