Geocache Description:

L’amour of the outdoors draws us to place our very first major cache in Stone Mountain Park (SMP). This beautiful park is located 16 miles northeast of Atlanta on a beautiful serene 3,200 acres. With all the growth in Atlanta who would realize this place still exists for a day, evening or even a weekend getaway. We live near by, just 1-1/2 miles as the GPSs fly. The park has a daily parking fee of $8( but you can walk, bike, or take public transpotation in for free) that permits you to enjoy many spectacular views including the mountain, the trees, and lakes. Sit by the lake and listen to a 732 bell carillon donated by Coca-Cola after the 1964 New York World’s Fair.
There are plenty of activities that require a nominal fee including a ride on the river boat Scarlett O’Hara, a skylift that goes up the side of the mountain, and an antique car museum that includes antique cars, even a real Tucker, motorcycles, nickelodeons, and old memorabilia (Now Closed). Guests can purchase tickets to ride the SMP Duck, a vintage WWII amphibious troop carrier.
Accommodations for out of town guest include two hotels, the Stone Mountain Inn, all brick with columns, rocking chairs on the porch, and Southern style buffet and the newer hotel, Evergreen, is where we spent our honeymoon, nearly 8 years ago. SMP has 441 campsites for everything from RVs to tents.
End your day of fun and caching and enjoy Stone Mountain Park’s signature event and an Atlanta tradition, the Lasershow. The Lasershow combines colorful lasers, surround sound and special effects into a 45 minute light show and spectacular fireworks choreographed to popular and patriotic music.

SMP is home of twenty or more caches of all kinds. Don’t just think “oh, another one at SMP”. Pepe’s Playhouse symbolizes our love for the outdoors. You see the infamous Pepe Le Pew wants to find love with his beautiful Penelope, a black cat with a white paint stripe. You see Pepe LePew and Penelope played roles in our wedding. GeoJaeger wore a Pepe Le Pew lapel pin. Pewter Pepe and Penelope were the cake topper and on our toasting glasses.
Pepe’s Playhouse is located off a broad scenic trail close the Main Entrance off Highway 78. There are 2 other caches along this trail, making this a bountiful caching experience.

Pepe’s Playhouse is stocked with lots of goodies and travel bugs so please trade evenly. If you take one leave one! If you take three leave three!

Advisory Note: No cats were painted in the making of this cache !
