The fourth and perhaps most challenging of the series so far.
This one will take you over a significant portion of the South
Holston Dam reservation - an area where he-doxie spent a lot of his
puppyhood. The gates to the reservation are locked from dusk to
dawn, so plan accordingly. This is a three-stage multi, and you'll
want to bring a hiking stick, pen and paper along. The first two
stages combine random doxie thoughts with experiences we've had
caching elsewhere. One of these stages highlights a common
misconception about doxies, and another is responsible for the
subtitle...you see, Mrs. Peoples was one of he-doxies' trainers,
and she faced a rather uphill battle teachin' him this particular
trick. You know how some dogs is good at huntin', some at random
chasin', and some at just sittin'? Well, she was a-teachin' sittin'
whilst he was a hunter...most of the other dogs were able to get
80s and 90s, whilst he never did see the north side of 30.
The first stage is a well-cammoed micro. Parking is about 150
yards away, but it is an easy walk through essentially flat
grassland to the hide. Please take great care not to injure the
cache container during your discovery, and replace it EXACTLY as
you find it so others can have the same...joy. When you find it,
make sure you write down EVERYTHING within: some will make sense
immediately, some will only make sense later.
The second stage is a bit larger than the first. Park on the
starboard side of the nearby parking area and go slightly uphill
before you head back into the wooded area. Do not cross anything
marked "TVA personnel only" unless you actually work for TVA.
There's a grassy track and then a trail (separated by stands of
woods) that will take you to your destination - terrain here rises
to about a 3 as you near this stage. Take care removing it from the
camoflague so as to not damage the camo, and please do not to leave
any hints or clues for the next seeker - you'd hate for them to get
cheated out of the fun, wouldn't you?
Your final journey will take you in search of a well-stocked
ammo can with a special FTF prize to start. Parking is nearby. This
one is a bit of a hike - its only about 50 yards or so up, but
pretty steep - maybe a 4 terrain here. Some may call it a
lung-buster: it did start to wear a bit on short lil doxie legs.
Please replace the cache as you found it.
We hope you enjoy this little exercise for both your body and
your brain. In order to keep this an equal adventure for all, we
ask that you please do not include any obvious hints or clues in
your logs...and if you get stuck or need a hint, feel free to
contact us and we'll gladly lend a paw. Thanks to lilmaxhikenbike
for use of his creativity. Bar-rar-rar!
